The Corruptor

Watched this on Film4 the other night......(Which is now free, by the way!)

Directed by James Foley : 1999.

Stars Mark Wahlberg, Chow Yun-Fat (ALWAYS makes me smile when I see his name.....conjurs images of a North Yorkshire Father giving his son dietary advice!)

Nick Chen (Yun-Fat) is one of New York City's most martial police officers and the first Chinese-born immigrant on the force.

Chen's job is to keep the peace in Chinatown from a turf war that has broken out between the Triads and the ruthless, and dangerous Fukienese Dragons.

Chen teams up with Danny Wallace (Wahlberg), who is terribly unaware of this situation. When the Tongs boldly attempt to bribe Wallace, Chen is forced to keep his faithfulness.

Quite a good film with a clever plot line and entertaining story.

However, don't expect a martial arts extravaganza!

Instead, a well written plot and average acting provide a decent enough distraction for a couple of hours.

Plenty of violence and bad language, but this sets the theme perfectly in a hard hitting way.

Watch this if there's nothing else on........
