The US has urged the European Union to speed up its process for approving new genetically modified (GM) products.
The call came after the World Trade Organisation publicly released its ruling that the EU acted illegally in banning GM imports from 1999 to 2004.
Now, I'm all for advancements in food technology, but I am undecided about genetically modified foods. There is no research to show what the long term effects would be on humans, as well as the environment.
But apart from that, the banning by the EU of certain GM foods was one of the few decisions the EU have made that I personally approve of.
But, as par for the course, the US and World Trade Organisation (Overseen by a board of US delegates, as is the United Nations!) are trying to use bullying tactics to enforce their views on the rest of the world!
The last time the US did this, we got Iraq.....and Afghanistan.....and Israel/Lebanon....and Iran.
When are people in this country going to realise that the EU is NOT a good idea for this country, and when will the REST OF EUROPE stand up for themselves and stop being so afraid of the U.S!
