Channel 5 US and bits & pieces.....

Just to let you know, Channel 5 U.S. starts on Monday 15th October at 8:00pm.

How do I get Five US?

Freeview: Channel 35
Digital Satellite: Channel 207
Digital Cable: Channel 185
Homechoice: Channel 30

Note: If you use Freeview, you may need to re-scan for Five US on your digital box, digital TV recorder or digital TV. Some models scan automatically, but others will require you to do this manually. For further details, please visit the Freeview website. Channel listings for digital satellite and cable viewers will update automatically.

Now, as some of you may be aware, I am fairly anti-American at the moment, but one point of interest is that at 9:00pm on Channel 5 US, they are showing 'Nightmares And Dreamscapes' which is an 8 part dramatisation of the Stephen King book of the same title.

Now, I remember thinking it was a lame attempt to better Clive Barker's 'Books Of Blood', but it wasn't too bad.

If you HAVEN'T even heard of Clive Barkers 'Books Of Blood' then shame on you!

There are 6 volumes and each contains numerous short stories from a unique writer, responsible for the Hellraiser and Nightbreed films. They are a fantastic read from a writer described as a 'fabulist'.

His writings are a mixture of gothic horror, fantasy and eroticism of an adult and graphic nature.

And if you are a fan of this sort of fantasy-horror, I'd also highly recommend 'Weaveworld' by Clive Barker. A fantastic novel and well worth investing the time to read.

And while we are on the subject of literary thrills, I'd also suggest reading the 'Necroscope' series of books by Brian Lumley or James Herbert's 'Once' - both fantastic reads!

Well that's enough trying to encourage reading to the masses, enjoy the program and hopefully a book or two?
