Sony has unveiled details of the PlayStation 3s online service and the list of 21 games available at launch.
Well, at last we have some details of the online capabilities of the new PS3.
Major points are that on-line gaming will be free, unlike XBox LiVE where you have to pay a yearly subscription to play. Not a major problem to me personally, but this could prove a selling point for any new gamers who are undecided as to which console to buy. You never know, Micro$oft may follow suit!
The launch titles are not overly impressive, many of them being re-hashed versions of games already available across multiple formats.
I do like the idea of being able to surf the web via the console and download music and games etc. But this would make it imperative that the user has a decent size hard drive and has to buy a keyboard and mouse to fully utilise this option, which is MORE cost to the end user!
Another point of interest is that the games will cost £32 RRP as opposed to £49.99 RRP for XBox 360 games. (Although most of us wouldn't pay the RRP. A more realistic cost is £39.99.)
Their online game service doesn't sound as though it is anywhere near as good as the XBox LiVE service, but it is free. (Up to now, anyway!)
