The Root Of All Evil - Richard Dawkins

This guy says

'The time has come for people of reason to say enough is enough. Religious faith discourages independent thought, its divisive and its dangerous.'

And I personally think he is right.

This guy isn't saying Science is the answer, rather that we should use science as part of the solution, in my opinion.

As someone who was brought up as a Jehovah's Witness, I can relate to his comments on how Religion relies on telling you what to believe. In many religions, you are actively discouraged from questioning the logic behind it and you are frowned upon should you do so.

I understand the need for faith, we all need to feel as though we 'belong', but when that results in people killing others because an individual or society refuses to adopt those ideals, it's wrong, fundamentaly so!

The world is going down the toilet, we all know that, the problem is no individual has the answer. Without the abilty to start society from scratch, religion and indeed 'faith' of ANY kind will always cause conflict.

Undoubtedly, this may cause derision amongst some of you. If you feel as though you have something to say, either for or against his statements or mine, please post a comment. I would be extremely interested in your comments/opinions etc.
